Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 large eggs (room temperature)

  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and sugar.
  3. In another bowl, combine the melted butter with Guinness. Stir in sour cream, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
