- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 tsp sugar (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté chopped onions and minced garlic until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the tomato sauce and sugar (if using) to the skillet and let it simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with half of the shredded mozzarella and fresh basil until creamy.
- In a baking dish, layer as follows: sauce at the bottom, followed by noodles, then the ricotta mixture. Repeat layers until ingredients are used up, finishing with mozzarella on top.
