  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 1 cup diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Prepare your apples by peeling, coring, and dicing into half-inch pieces.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Create a well in the center and add eggs and milk gradually while mixing until smooth.
  3. Gently fold in the diced apples until well-coated but not overmixed.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Test readiness by dropping in a small amount of batter; it should sizzle.
  5. Carefully drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides (about 3-4 minutes). Transfer to paper towels to drain excess oil.
  6. While still warm, dust fritter bites with powdered sugar or drizzle with glaze made from powdered sugar mixed with milk.
