Ingredients

  • 1 lb ribeye steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium sweet onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded
  • 4 cups sourdough bread, cubed
  • 4 tbsp butter, melted
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté onions in olive oil until translucent. Add bell peppers and mushrooms; cook until softened.
  3. Push veggies aside and add ribeye steak to the skillet. Cook until browned; season with salt, pepper, and garlic.
  4. Layer half of the sourdough in the greased dish. Top with half of the steak mixture and half of each cheese. Repeat layers.
  5. In a bowl, whisk eggs and milk together; pour over layered casserole and press down gently.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 10 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
