Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb sirloin or ribeye steak
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Remove the steak from the refrigerator and let it reach room temperature for about 20 minutes.
  2. Mince garlic cloves finely and set aside. Pat the steak dry with paper towels and season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Sear the steak for 4 minutes without moving it.
  4. Flip the steak using tongs; add butter and minced garlic around the edges of the pan. Sear for another 3-4 minutes, depending on desired doneness.
  5. Remove the steak and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing against the grain.
  6. In the same skillet, add soy sauce to deglaze, stirring up flavorful bits from the pan. Simmer briefly until slightly thickened.
  7. Drizzle garlic sauce over sliced steak and garnish with fresh parsley.
