Ingredients

  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 4 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar (for caramel)
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a baking dish by placing it in a larger roasting pan for a water bath.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the granulated sugar until golden brown. Quickly pour into the baking dish, tilting to coat the bottom evenly.
  3. In a blender, combine sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth.
  4. Carefully pour the mixture over the caramel layer in the baking dish.
  5. Place the baking dish in the roasting pan and fill it with hot water until halfway up the sides of the flan dish.
  6. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until set but slightly jiggly in the center. Allow cooling completely before refrigerating for at least four hours or overnight.
  7. To serve, run a knife around the edge and invert onto a serving platter.
