  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and sugar until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, mix melted butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  5. Spoon about two-thirds of the batter into each liner. Add a teaspoon of caramel sauce in the center of each.
  6. Cover with remaining batter until three-quarters full.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean (some caramel is okay). Cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack.
