- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 egg
- 3 cups fresh cherries, pitted
- 1 tsp almond extract
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
- Beat in the egg until mixed; reserve 1 cup of dough for topping.
- Press remaining dough into the bottom of the prepared pan.
- In another bowl, mix pitted cherries with sugar and almond extract; spread over crust.
- Crumble reserved dough over cherries.
- Bake for about 30 minutes until golden brown. Cool before slicing.
