Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup whole milk (warm)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 cup pecans (chopped)
  • ⅓ cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast; let sit for 5 minutes until frothy. Stir in melted butter, eggs, and vanilla until well mixed. Gradually add flour to form a soft dough.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled.
  3. Prepare the filling by mixing brown sugar, cinnamon, chopped pecans, and melted butter in another bowl.
  4. Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a rectangle (½ inch thick). Spread the filling evenly over the dough and roll tightly into a log.
  5. Cut into 12 equal pieces and place cut-side up in a greased baking dish. Cover again and let rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Meanwhile, heat maple syrup with additional pecans until bubbly; drizzle over warm buns after baking.
