Description

  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 4 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (sifted)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round pans and line the bottoms with parchment paper.
  2. In one bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time and then mix in vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually combine dry ingredients with the butter mixture while adding milk until just mixed.
  5. Divide batter between prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks. Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Frost between layers and on top.
