Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 beaten egg
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup softened butter (for filling)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar (for filling)
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon (for filling)
  • Powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • Vanilla extract (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until frothy (5-10 mins).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and cinnamon. Create a well and add the yeast mixture, beaten egg, and melted butter. Mix to form a shaggy dough.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in an oiled bowl covered with a cloth to rise for about an hour or until doubled.
  4. For the filling: In a small bowl, mix softened butter, sugar, and cinnamon.
  5. Roll out risen dough into a rectangle (12×18 inches) and spread filling evenly. Roll tightly and slice into 12 rolls.
  6. Arrange rolls in a greased baking dish; let rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Cool slightly before drizzling with frosting made from powdered sugar mixed with milk and vanilla.
